The Nomads Tent is delighted to welcome back virtuoso santur player, Peyman Heydarian. You are cordially invited to a multicultural santur recital with Santur virtuoso Dr Peyman Heydarian, percussionist Ali Rahmani and guest vocalist Isidora Bouziouri; featuring Persian, Kurdish, and Greek music at The Nomads Tent, Edinburgh, Scotland on Saturday 24th February.
The Santur originated in Iran and is played in different musical traditions. It is referred to as a hammered dulcimer in English. The Voice of the Santur programme acts as a bridge between different cultures and contributes to the understanding of cultural diversity.

Workshop: santur, daf and group performance
A Peyman Heydarian workshop on santur (Persian hammered dulcimer) and daf (traditional Kurdish percussion instrument). In the workshop, songs and instrumental pieces from Persian, Kurdish, Greek, Klezmer and Celtic traditions will be explored and played together with the attendees. We will provide a few santurs and dafs for the participants. However, the students are welcome to bring other instruments (fiddle, flute, bodhran, darbuka, etc.) and join in.
