Product Description

Konya prayer kilim or Sejede (from the word meaning kneeling). Its ‘mihrab’ or central arch represents a window into heaven. The design originates from the Islamic tradition and would originally be used for praying on. In Anatolian weaving traditions, each area has its own variants of this iconic form. This example was woven about 1950 or 1960. It has some wear.
