Product Description

These are from Northern Afghanistan. The designs all come from the Turkmen tribes, many of who left Russian dominated Turkmenistan in the 1920s. Once upon a time blue was achieved with natural Indigo. This natural dye is now very expensive. The synthetic version used for denim and other applications is perfect for rugs and has very similar properties to natural indigo. The wools are usually from the Karakul sheep.
