Do join us and support Jamie Balfour-Paul (stage name Jamie Jibberish) who runs the humanitarian initiative Magic for Smiles based in Lebanon. Jamie will be giving a talk about his work with refugee children and how important the power of his magic shows are to helping these kids emotionally cope with their very tough stressful living conditions.
He works primarily with kids amongst a refugee population of 1.5 to 2 million – or at least 1 in 4 of the population – mostly Syrians and Palestinians, as well as with poor Lebanese. Working through local and international organisations in Lebanon, he provides magic shows for these kids, as well as providing some tuition.
The project promotes magic as a form of psycho-social support for traumatised or stressed kids offering many benefits in addition to entertainment, including motivation, de-stressing, cognitive analysis, concentration, self-esteem, and interaction. This fund raising event is vital to sustaining the project.
