Listening to Rabindranath Tagore: Wed 9th May 2018, 6.15pm

An evening celebrating the work and life of Sir Rabindranath Tagore, artist, philosopher, educator and polymath. We are indebted to Bashabi Fraser, director of the Scottish Centre of Tagore Studies (ScoTs) who helped to make this program possible.

6.15pm: Indian Buffet dinner by Kalpna vegetarian restaurant with Tagore’s own family recipes.

8.00pm: Opening ‘anjali’ (song) by Bani Bhattacharya. Poems of Tagore and Sri Chinmoy by Professor Alan Spence – the Edinburgh Makar, poet, playwright and award winning novelist. Poems of Tagore (in Shetlandic) and poetic responses to Rajasthan by Christine De Luca, Edinburgh Makar from 2014 to 2017, award winning poet and novelist. Songs from Tagore by Bani Bhattacharya.
